On 10th August 2022, the Yixing Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning held an expert review meeting for the Research on National Spatial Planning of Yixing Xiyi Coordinated Development Zone and Urban Design of Pilot District. Five experts from Suzhou and Wuxi were invited to form the expert panel, attended by Wuxi Yixing Ecological Environment Bureau, Municipal Development and Reform, Water Conservancy, Housing and Construction, Transportation, as well as the person in charge of relevant departments of Economic Development Zone, Zhoutie Town and Wanshi Town.

The planning is fully in line with the planning of the coordinated development zone of Wuxi City, the National Spatial Planning of Yixing City Taihu Bay Science and Technology Innovation Belt, and the National Spatial Planning of Yixing City. After the research on the new situation of Yangtze Delta coordinated development and case study of lake area urban transformation around the world, SCP puts forward an overall vision of “Wuxi-Yixing City, Science and Technology Bay”, and three major positioning of focusing on the building of “A Benchmark Zone for Regional International Cities”, “A New Economic Center around Yangtze Delta Taihu Lake Area”, and “A High-Quality Coordinated Demonstration Zone of Wuxi-Yixing.

The plan optimizes the overall pattern of spatial planning, proposes a functional layout structure of “One Core, One Belt and Three District”. To build a coordinated development support system from the aspects of Institutional mechanism, industry synergy, ecological management, integrated transportation, public facilities, smart infrastructure, etc.

The urban design of pilot district proposes to make S2 Zhou intercity rail station as the center, to take Hudu national ecological texture as the context, to demonstrate the cultural heritage, and to enhance level of the center through TOD. To build Xiyi Front Bay International Eco-City, Taihu West Line “Xiyi Bridgehead”, and Charming First Stop.

After listening to the presentation by SCP Consultants Pte Ltd., the expert panel unanimously recognized and approved the plan. The planning was accurate in positioning, detailed in content, scientific and standardized, and met the requirements of national, provincial and municipal spatial planning.

In the next stage, SCP will improve the results based on the feedback, further strengthen the connection with national spatial plan, strengthen the research on economic estimation and implementation plan, optimize and refine the functional layout of urban design, and continuously provide follow-up services.
